The final day of the EuroMxene Congress was a fitting conclusion to an incredible event. We began with an insightful keynote from Prof. Jiaguo Yu, who discussed the potential of MXene composite S-scheme photocatalysts for solar fuel production. This was followed by keynote speaker Dr. Valeria Nicolosi’s enlightening presentation on the processing and applications of 2D MXene inks, providing valuable insights into the versatility of these materials.
Seyed Hossein Hosseini Shokouh then took the stage with his talk on highly selective H₂S gas sensors based on MXene-organic composites, sparking discussions on new possibilities in sensor technology. Bahareh Khezri followed with a captivating presentation on the transformative power of MXenes, from harvesting green energy to engineering synthetic nano/micro robots.
Keynote speaker Prof. Zdenek Sofer delved into the functionalization of MXenes for energy storage and catalysis, shedding light on cutting-edge advancements in the field. Diego Ontiveros Cruz shared his computational study on MXenes for water splitting photocatalysis, followed by Amanda Sfeir’s intriguing work on Ni decorated MXenes for the hydrodeoxygenation of m-cresol.
Ling Meng presented her research on how surface termination modulates the catalytic activity of Ti₃C₂ MXene in CO₂ reduction and hydrogen evolution reactions, highlighting significant findings. Nestor Mauricio García-Romeral González concluded the series of talks with his study on the chemical bonds in composites made of TiO₂ clusters supported on Ti₂C.
The participation was incredible, reflecting the high level of scientific discourse that has been a defining feature of this congress. The day culminated in a lively and enriching round table discussion about the future of MXenes, where participants exchanged ideas, debated future directions, and reflected on the week’s learnings. The closing ceremony was a heartfelt moment, celebrating the success of the congress and the strong sense of community that had been built.
We also held a contest for the best flash presentation and the best poster, with the awards being presented during the closing ceremony. Congratulations to all the winners!
Thank you to all the participants for your enthusiasm and engagement.
