The piece explores the mechanisms of electron transfer in S-scheme heterojunctions—advanced photocatalytic systems inspired by natural photosynthesis. Using cutting-edge characterization techniques like femtosecond transient absorption spectroscopy and in situ X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, the article offers a comprehensive overview of how charge separation can be enhanced to boost photocatalytic performance.
