Professor Menny Shalom closes a productive year at HG Energy with a talk on materials for photo- and electrochemical reactions
July, 7
After a year-long collaboration with the HG Energy group at ITQ (UPV–CSIC), Professor Menny Shalom delivered his final seminar titled “Materials design for photo and electrochemical reactions.” His talk outlined recent progress in the development of energy-efficient pathways for renewable fuel production, focusing on hydrogen generation, solar fuels, and the use of metal-free catalysts.
This seminar marks the conclusion of a highly productive period of collaboration that has been valuable for both the group and our research lines in materials chemistry and sustainable energy. Professor Shalom’s stay has fostered scientific exchange and led to joint investigations into novel materials for photoelectrochemical systems and electrocatalysis.
Throughout the year, Professor Shalom contributed to group discussions, co-supervised experiments, and introduced new approaches in catalyst design. His expertise in carbon nitride-based materials and solar-to-fuel technologies enriched the research environment at HG Energy.
This second talk followed his inaugural lecture in September 2024, and was part of a series of joint activities that began with his appointment as invited professor.
It has been a privilege to host Professor Shalom, and we look forward to continuing this scientific dialogue in future collaborations, some of which are already going on.
In the near future, we hope that Professor Shalom could be still affiliated to our institute to make a long lasting impact in the fields of electro- and photocatalysis.
