Successful PhD Defense: Andrés Explores 2D MOFs for Photocatalysis at HG Energy
Sept, 18, 2025
We are proud to share an important achievement within our group 🎓: the successful defense of the PhD thesis
“Materiales Reticulares Metal-Orgánicos con Morfología Bidimensional y Espesor Nanométrico en Catálisis y Fotocatálisis” by Andres Uscategui Linares researcher at HG energy – ITQ (UPV-CSIC) Instituto de Tecnología Química (UPV-CSIC) 🧪📘
This work explores the design and application of two-dimensional metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) with nanometric thickness — materials that open new avenues for more selective, efficient, and sustainable processes in catalysis and photocatalysis. ⚙️🔬 Their controlled morphology and tailored reactivity could have a meaningful impact in fields such as solar fuel production ☀️ or fine chemical synthesis 🧫.
The thesis has already resulted in several important scientific publications 📄, and more are expected to follow.
The committee: Fernando Langa de la Puente, Francesc X. Llabrés i Xamena, and Rosa María Martín-Aranda, described it as an exceptional and carefully constructed contribution to the field. 🏅
Directed by Hermenegildo Garcia Gomez and Josep Albero Sancho, the thesis reflects not only scientific depth and originality, but also clarity and coherence from start to finish. 🧠✨
Congratulations, Andrés, your work speaks for itself. 👏
