Yesterday, the final Consortium Meeting M42 of the METHASOL project was held at the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV). The meeting began with welcome words from Hermenegildo García and Sergio Navalón, with Belén Ferrer, also from UPV, coordinating the sessions throughout the day.
The event brought together project partners from 14 institutions across 9 countries, including:

The session provided a platform to present and analyze the project’s final results. Discussions covered key topics, including advancements in the development of materials for CO₂ reduction and oxygen evolution, integration strategies for heterojunction systems, and societal and market analyses for renewable methanol production. Q&A sessions allowed for open academic exchange and clarification of key findings in a collaborative and productive environment.
The METHASOL project, funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 programme, has aimed to develop innovative methods for converting CO₂ into methanol using sunlight as an energy source. The project outcomes represent significant advancements toward sustainable energy solutions and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.
The meeting concluded with reflections on the project’s achievements and a discussion on future perspectives for further advancing this research.
