SWEATPATCH Consortium Gathers in Valencia to Advance Wearable Cancer Monitoring Technology

The SWEATPATCH consortium held its second annual meeting on September 18–19, 2025, hosted by the HG Energy, Instituto de Tecnología Química at Universitat Politècnica de València. This gathering brought together key project partners from across Europe to exchange updates, coordinate next steps, and deepen collaborative work on the development of a wearable patch for real-time breast cancer treatment monitoring.

This second meeting followed the kick-off held in Lille and marked an important checkpoint in the first year of activity. Discussions focused on the technological progress across the project’s six work packages, from functionalized materials and sensor integration to data analysis, biomarker identification, and the preparation for clinical deployment.

Work package leaders presented technical achievements, particularly in areas such as sensor selectivity and performance, data processing, and clinical trial considerations. Interdisciplinary sessions sparked valuable exchange between researchers in electronics, oncology, chemistry, and data science, strengthening the project’s integrated approach to building a battery-free, reusable device for non-invasive monitoring of sweat VOCs related to tumor activity.

The meeting also included strategic discussions on the project roadmap, upcoming trials, ensuring that SWEATPATCH maintains its strong momentum. A networking dinner provided further space for cross-institutional dialogue.

HG Energy, as partner and coordinator of the materials development and chemical sensing components, continues to contribute actively to this disruptive solution aimed at improving breast cancer care through personalized monitoring.
